Which Telegram links work

On iPhone
Username and channel URLs open the matching chat in the app, and message URLs open the chat at that message. Invite links open the join prompt, and sticker set links open the sticker pack.
On Android
The same destinations open directly in the Telegram app, and the browser takes over when it is not installed.
Known limitations
No link can force a phone to open an app. These are the cases where a Telegram link falls back to the web:
- Third-party Telegram clients may not be registered as the handler.
- Private invite links expire and will open the app on an error screen.
- Private channels and chats you are not a member of open the app but cannot show the message.

Why did the Telegram app not open?
The device makes the final call. Common reasons: the app is not installed, the specific URL type is not covered (Third-party Telegram clients may not be registered as the handler.), or the link was tapped inside another app's in-app browser, which will not hand off to a native app. The web fallback always works.
